For his aptly titled solo debut album, "Introducing...", Aaron Frazer collaborated with Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys. Softly spoken and blessed with the looks of a slightly disgruntled 1950s matinee idol, Frazer possesses a unique voice that sounds both contemporary and timeless. The Baltimore-raised, Brooklyn-based songwriter first gained recognition as the drummer and co-vocalist for Durand Jones & The Indications. Now, with "Introducing...", he steps out from behind the drum kit as a solo artist, showcasing not only his impressive vocal abilities but also his skill as a top-notch songwriter. The first single, "Bad News," garnered attention ("a gorgeous piece of vintage R&B" - CLASH), while the follow-up lead single, "Over You," is inspired by the electrifying Northern Soul of the 1960s. These are just two examples of the successful collaboration between Frazer and Auerbach. The twelve songs on "Introducing..." skillfully blend 70s soul with Dan Auerbach's distinctive sensibility for vintage sounds, presented in a fresh new light. "Introducing..." features classic message songs in the vein of artists like Gil Scott-Heron, as well as motivational love songs infused with disco, gospel, and doo-wop influences. The entire album was recorded in just one week at Auerbach's renowned Nashville studio following a rapid and productive songwriting session. Auerbach also enlisted legendary songwriter and falsetto specialist L. Russell Brown (who previously penned hits for Frankie Valli of The Four Seasons), who co-wrote the album's beautiful opener, "You Don't Wanna Be My Baby." For "Introducing...", Frazer assembled an impressive array of seasoned Nashville session musicians. These included members of the legendary Memphis Boys (who played on Dusty Springfield's "Son of A Preacher Man" and Aretha Franklin's "You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman"), percussionist Sam Bacco, and various musicians from the Daptone/Big Crown Records circle.
