Symphonie Fantastique, Op. 14
Composed by French Romantic composer Hector Berlioz in 1830, Symphonie Fantastique is one of the most famous and groundbreaking symphonies of the Romantic era.
It is a program symphony, which means it tells a story through music. The work depicts the passionate and tumultuous emotions of an artist who is obsessed with his beloved. The symphony has five movements, each portraying different scenes: from a dream-filled reverie to a wild ball, a pastoral scene, a march to the scaffold, and finally a witches’ sabbath.
