Thievery Corporation, the Washington, D.C.-based duo, rose to prominence in the mid-1990s and is now one of the most influential acts in the field of electronic lounge and chill-out music. Rob Garza and Eric Hilton combine elements of dub, jazz, reggae, Indian and Middle Eastern music, and Brazilian rhythms in their sound. Their third studio album, "The Richest Man in Babylon," was released in 2002 and combines electronic productions with live instrumentation and guest contributions from Emiliana Torrini, LouLou, Pam Bricker, and Notch. The record is heavily influenced by political themes, combining danceable beats with sonorous protest music.
